Atmosphere on Sunday night

Last week while browsing in my favorite Amsterdam music store, Concerto, I came across the latest album from Atmosphere. Concerto were also doing a special promotion by giving out a free gig ticket with the album. Considering the album costs 18 euro and the gig tickets are 15 this is pretty good value, especially when they were generous enough to give me two tickets. They are playing in the Melkweg, Oude Zaal at 9pm with support from Brother Ali.

Atmosphere are an indie hip hop duo from Minneapolis and they are currently touring to promote their latest album "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold". I'm not going to review the album (as there are many good reviews on the net already, see here) other than to say that it is refreshing, with lush sounds, samples of music boxes and organ sounds with slide guitar, sometime with a laid back west coast feel and wry lyrics. You will like these guys if you like artists like Aesop Rock.
